Paper Christmas Tree using Holly Leaves from CTMH Art Philosophy Cricut Cartridge

I wanted to share the paper Christmas Tree that I made last night. I came up with something a little different this time by using the holly leaves cut from the Art Philosophy Cricut Cartridge and stamped them with the coordinating stamp set called A Holiday.

To make the leaves for the tree I used the "Auto Fill" feature on my Cricut Machine so I could cut a bunch at once on a piece of 12" x 12" cardstock. I also cut 8 additional holly leaves on a second piece of cardstock. I cut the holly leaves at 2 1/4" using the Art Philosophy Cricut Cartridge so they would match up with the A Holiday stamp set. Once they were all cut I unloaded the mat, peeled back the scrap part and left the leaves on the mat to stamp. It makes it easy to stamp since the pieces don't move around. 

Next you'll take some green ink... I used CTMH Topiary Ink. I know it looks like I stamped them with 2 different ink colors but it was actually all using Topiary Ink. I just did second generation stamp after each one. 

I used a 6" Styrofoam cone and placed a thin strip of garden green cardstock along the bottom using craft ball pins... that way you couldn't see the white cone. I then just took some ball pins and stuck the leaves right into the cone rotating the light and dark colors starting at the bottom. I then worked my way up to the top. For the top row I used my hot glue gun since I didn't want the ball pins showing.

Once I got to the top I just folded up a thin piece of cardstock to make it pleated and then hot glued it around the top. I cut a few more holly leaves at 1 3/4" to coordinate with the smaller holly leaf on the A Holiday stamp set, trimmed them down and stuck them at the top of the tree to hid the white cone showing through.

I cut out 3 stars at 2" to coordinate with the star on the Holiday Wishes stamp set (Nov Promo). I stamped each star with Holiday Red ink, scored them down the center and glued them all together with liquid glass. To get the 3 sided star to stay secure I made a little hole with my scissors at the top of the cone, hot glued the ball part of the push pin in there, slid the center of the star over the pin and secured it with CTMH Liquid Glass.

Then I added some ornaments (paper flowers) to the tree by cutting out 16 spiral flowers at 1 1/4" using the Art Philosophy Cartridge. I adhered them randomly around the tree using Liquid Glass and topped them off with a little Glitz stardust to add some sparkle. Lastly I cut 3 more flowers with White Daisy cardstock, stamped them with some topiary ink using the holly leaves stamp just to give it some color (front and back), rolled them up and secured them at the base of the star to cover up the craft ball pin holding the star.

This was easy peasy compared to my big paper flower tree that took me a whopping 15 hours to make. I've made a few different Christmas trees... you can check them out here if you'd like. =)
