Home Decor using Art Philosophy Cricut Cartridge & CTMH Dreamin

Would you believe that I only paid $2.99 for this shadow box? Yep, sure did. I picked it from the clearance section at Michael's Craft Store and had no idea how much it was until I got up to the register to pay. Now I wish I would have grabbed some more. I thought the color of the wood paired nicely with the new Dreamin Paper Pack from Close To My Heart.

{*Click on photos to view larger.... Sorry about the dark shadows... It was a bit dark in my craft room when I took these pics}

I decided to make some fall decor for our home and created a tile background to showcase all the vibrant, cheerful, fall colors from the CTMH Dreamin Paper Pack. Below are the steps I took to create this if you'd like to make one too...

  • Cut the Dreamin Paper in 2 inch squares using a paper trimmer.
  • Next ink up all the edges using CTMH Chocolate Ink. My preferred method for inking up the edges is using sponge daubers. I find this to be very easy since they just go right on your finger rather than holding a tool or sponge.
  • Use the Art Philosophy Cricut Cartridge to cut out the letters and pennant banner shapes. For the F-A-M-I-L-Y letters I cut them at 1 3/4" using the Shift Key to get the capital letter and the Font Feature Key to get the solid letter. For the pennant banners I cut the CTMH Colonial White Cardstock at 1 1/2" and the Dreamin Paper - Orange pattern at 1 1/4" to layer on top.
  • Now ink up all the edges of the letters and pennant banners. For the letters I used CTMH Pacific Ink to give it some pop from the tiles behind. For the pennant banners I used CTMH Chocolate ink for both sizes.
  • Next you'll want to use a small alphabet stamp set to stamp the letters on the pennant banner. I used the small Friendship Alphabet Stamp Set with CTMH Cocoa Ink to put L-E-A-H-Y... my last name on the orange pennant banners.
  • Then adhere the pennant banners together. And situate on your layout. Did you notice the base is not paper? I'm not 100% sure what it's called but my best guess is either a very thin piece of burlap material or linen.
  • Once I got everything laid out how I wanted it ... I used Close To My Heart Liquid Glass to adhere everything.
  • The final step was embellishing.... I didn't want to do too much to take away from the background and the pennant banners so I decided to tie up some little bows using CTMH Hemp to place in between each pennant banner and the ends. Also I added a few of the CTMH Mocha Opaques to some of the letters to help them stand out.
  • Now just put your finished frame and VIOLA!!!!
