Heart 2 Heart Challenge | Sentimentally Yours

I wanted to share with you all the Home Decor I made for this weeks Challenge over at Heart 2 Heart. The challenge is "Sentimentally Yours"... you have to use a sentiment as the focal point rather than an image. I chose to use LOVE as my sentiment and made an altered frame and candle. Check it out below... and please join us over at Heart 2 Heart Challenges. I can't wait to see your "Sentimentally Yours" submissions.
The frame is one of those $1 wood frame from Michaels Craft Store. I painted it brown using some Joann's brand paint. I wanted to give it a finished look so I painted it although you can't tell from the photos. I then covered it using Close To My Heart Grace paper pack. I stamped the L-V-E on textured Colonial White cardstock using the Headline My Acrylix stamp set from CTMH. After those were cut out I mounted them with the 3D glue dots called Zots. I used the new Mocha Opaques. How cool are they? They are the new colored pearls from the 2010 Autumn\Winter Idea Book. Are you wondering about those flowers yet? I'll explain in just a minute.

The candle was on sale at Michaels Craft Store 2 for $8. I used Close To My Heart Rub-Ons to add the Love sentiment as well as the flowers. I used some white daisy and garden green ribbon around the top and topped it off with more of those gorgeous flowers and leaves. So if you're wondering how to make the paper flowers let me explain. You'll need to cut 8 scalloped circles to make 1 flower (although I used 4 for the small one in LOVE). I used white daisy cardstock. I then inked the edges of each scalloped circle with a sponge dauber, then layed them on a paper towel and sprits them with some water. You'll need to crumble all 8 of them up individually into little balls. They don't have to be really tight just crumbled up, once you've done that open them back up and stack them all on top of eachother. Get out your handy dandy paper piercer and poke in the center through all of them, stick a brad through them all. Now the fun part... start with the top layer and pinch the scalloped circle together, then do the next layer and so on. Once you have brought them all up and pinched them tight then fluff them a bit (kinda squish) and viola. To make it easier I posted the video below from pinkaboo6691. For the leaves I cut a leaf shape from white daisy cardstock, folded it in half and ran it through my fiskars paper crimper. I then inked the edges with garden green and used a sponge dauber to lightly brush over the top of the raised parts. I was pretty happy with how they turned out.

Here is a close up of the flowers on top of the candle jar:

Here is a close up of the letters on the frame: (I added some cocoa ink to the edges of the flower to go with the cocoa letters)
