I just wanted to share with you all my son, Maverick's Vintage Hawaiian Nursery... aka Mav's Surf Shack! =) Many of you have asked to see pictures and I'm finally getting around to posting them. Hope you like it! I love how it turned out. The pics are slightly dark since I took them at night. If I take them in the day the sun shines in the room too bright and I didn't want to close the blackout curtains cause you wouldn't get the full effect of the room with his bamboo blinds.

Below you'll see his adorable red crib with a palapa overhang. Isn't that palapa awesome? I think it turned out so good. My hubby and I made it and let me tell you... it was a task and a half to help him hang it while I was almost 9 months preggo. On the palapa are red hibiscus Hawaiian flowers and hanging from the palapa is a cute palm tree mobile. The walls throughout the room are done in real bamboo with a bamboo slats for the chair rail. To the left you will see a surf board with Maverick's name on it that matches the surf boards on the crib bedding. How cool is that?!?! My amazingly talented sister in law, Ashley made this for us. I absolutely love it. She did such a great job! You can get a better look at in the pictures below.

Below is the wall opposite the crib which has a vintage dresser (jam packed with his adorable outfits...hee hee!). This was actually my husbands dresser when he was a baby and was absolutely perfect for the room. On the dresser is a palm tree lamp with bamboo shade, also a Close To My Heart Memory Box that I made with CTMH Moon Doggie paper and the Extreme Happiness stamp set. Next to the memory box is a cute vintage looking surf board picture frame. Above the dresser is a vintage Hawaiian picture that says "Aloha Hawaii" on it and is framed in bamboo. To the right you'll see hiding in the corner a brown wicker chest which holds his toys and books. Next to that is my comfy glider and ottoman with a matching pillow to his crib bedding.

Below is a closer look at the Maverick surf board.... so cool! The board stands next to a vintage looking light post. The light has on a dimmer so once Maverick actually sleeps in his room it will perfect to not have a bright light on. To the left of the surf board is a large window which has bamboo blinds and red black out curtains tied with some raffia.

Below is a picture of the wall across from the window. The majority of the wall is a closet with mirror doors and the door into the room. This Surf's Up pin up girl picture with bamboo framing hangs between the door and closet. Also it's hard to see but the light switch and outlet below have a woody and surf board on them.

And last but not least is the crib bedding that inspired it all. This Hawaiian print luxurious crib bedding from Aloha Comfort that I just had to have. I knew I wanted to do Hawaiian print and then knowing we had my husbands dresser I decided to go with a vintage Hawaiian theme. I thought the bedding was absolutely perfect.... it has the perfect colors and print for a vintage look yet the satin added a little pop. I ended up not using the bed skirt that it came with it. It was a bit too much... and I didn't like the look of it. So now I have extra material that matches the bedding if I want to make something else at some point.

It took a lot of time to come up with all the ideas for it and definitely a ton of hard labor (thanks hubby) to make my ideas come to life but I was very pleased with the end result. *Click photos to view larger.

Hope you enjoyed the tour of Maverick's room. Let me know what you think of his room.... I'd LOVE to read your comments!
