My friend Deanna is decorating her baby girls room in pink and brown with cupcake decor... SUPER cute! Once I saw her registry (Restoration Hardware Baby) and saw the cupcake decor I was soooo excited to do this project. I topped it off with a nordstroms gift card and she was happy as can be (seemed to be)!!!
I made 5 cupcakes.... 4 of which I really wanted to eat (looked SO real) although I would have broke my teeth. The other was a paper crafted cupcake with ribbon originally inspired by Jeanette Lynton's site, founder of Close To My Heart. To make the realistic looking cupcake frosting I used a drywall spackling to cover half of the 3" styrofoam balls, mixed it with pink arylic paint and added pink shimmery glitter and some clear sparkles. The base was made from tile grout powder mixed with water and brown acrylic paint and poured in a cupcake pan lined with saran wrap. I covered with a strip of paper, ran it through my fiskars crimper and sealed with a bow. The paper crafted cupcake was made with several different size flowers cut from my cricuit machine, stamped with connections My Acrylix stamp set from Close To My Heart, inked all the edges with cocoa and blush ink, several different types of ribbon was placed in between each flower stacked with 3D foam squares. The flowers and ribbon were embellished with clear sparkles, white daisy brads, eyelets and more. The base of the paper cupcake was a small tin I puchased from Michaels covered with paper that I ran through my fiskars crimper and sealed with a bow and a B for Baby Brooklyn. It was way more time consuming that I thought maybe cause it was my first one...but all worth it.
The wall art is 3 cupcakes together cut with my cricut celebrations cartridge. I used 3 layers of paper, paper pierced the frosting part, embellished and used pink wire which I twisted then tucked in a large eyelet on the side and sealed with a bow.
BGB are her initials.... Brooklyn Grace. Adorable!
